OREGON: The Woodburn City Council approved last week an ordinance amending the city’s zoning codes to permit medical marijuana clinics in one industrial area on the north side of town.
The zoning regulations, which are based on earlier recommendations from the Woodburn Planning Commission, would technically allow medical marijuana outlets in any area zoned light industrial (IL) or industrial park (IP).
However, further criteria prohibiting dispensaries within 1,000 feet of a school, child care facility, public park or residential property effectively limit potential clinics to a dozen or so tracts in a small area of industrial land in the far northeast corner of the city.
The proposal was discussed at length by councilors and others during a public hearing last month. The discussion on Feb. 9 was much briefer, and was followed by a unanimous vote.
