Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program Releases Testing Laboratory Provisional License Application Materials

OHIO:The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP) is scheduled to accept new testing laboratory license applications beginning the week of August 3, 2020. On its testing laboratories webpage, the MMCP has posted two documents for potential applicants to assist in understanding the key substantive attributes of the application.

Potential applicants may submit questions regarding the application materials using instructions listed on the testing laboratories webpage. All questions must be submitted by July 31, 2020. The MMCP will then provide the frequently asked questions and MMCP answers to potential applicants.

Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program Mandatory Product Recall – 3/13/2020

OHIO: The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP) is issuing a mandatory product recall on plant material cultivated by Pure Ohio Wellness. This recall is being initiated by the MMCP because product that did not receive the full battery of required testing was sold at dispensaries. The product was not tested for heavy metals, water activity, microbials, mycotoxins, or foreign matter. The MMCP has initiated an investigation into the noncompliance and identified product samples to be tested. These results will be communicated publicly.

  • 68,772 Recommendations
  • 69,084 Registered patients

  • 45,987 Unique patients who purchased medical marijuana (as reported to OARRS by licensed dispensaries)

Ohio Board Of Pharmacy Announces Fourth Week Statistics For MMJ Patient & Caregiver Registry

OHIO: After accepting patient registrations for four weeks, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program has 4,964 recommendations in the Patient and Caregiver Registry. Of those with a recommendation, 3,575 have activated their Registry Card.

The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy will continue to provide weekly updates through December after which a monthly report will be available.

Ohio Department Of Commerce Announces Recipients of Processor, Private Testing Lab Provisional Licenses

OHIO: The first round of awards included applicants who met the minimum requirements of the application. Please note there are still four applicants who may be eligible for licenses in the first round. Tax and/or background checks are still pending for these applicants.

A second round of review will occur for applications needing additional clarifying information. This pool of applicants will be scored and awarded separately from the Round 1 recipients. For the remaining applicants, the department will be asking for additional clarifying information.

The Ohio Department of Commerce continues to finalize the reviews of the private testing labs. There is no limit to the number of testing lab licenses that may be awarded. An additional period for testing lab applications will be opening soon.

Ohio Department Of Commerce Announces Recipients Of Processor Provisional Licenses

OHIO:  The Ohio Department of Commerce is authorized to award up to 40 provisional licenses for processors. The first round of awards included applicants who met the minimum requirements of the application.

  • 185.48 – Ohio Grown Therapies, LLC (Johnstown, Licking County)
  • 182.00 – Fire Rock Processing Ltd. (Columbus, Franklin County)
  • 177.28 – Ohio Green Grow LLC (Toledo, Lucas County)
  • 176.72 – Greenleaf Therapeutics, LLC (Middlefield, Geauga County or Willoughby, Lake County) *
  • 172.20 – Grow Ohio Pharmaceuticals, LLC (Newtown Township, Muskingum County)
  • 156.52 – Standard Farms Ohio LLC (Garfield Heights, Cuyahoga County)
  • 155.32 – Corsa Verde, LLC (Columbus, Franklin County)

*An applicant can only receive one provisional license, yet were permitted to apply multiple times with different locations. Greenleaf Therapeutics LLC has 10 days to choose their location.

To receive a certificate of operation, each provisional licensee will have to comply with all statutory and rule requirements which includes zoning requirements of the locality.

The Ohio Department of Commerce finished accepting processor applications on Friday, December 15th. The Department received 104 processor applications. From these, the Department is authorized to award up to 40 provisional licenses.
