NEW JERSEY: A New Jersey legislator plans to introduce legislation Monday that would result in marijuana legalization in the state.
State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D, Union) hopes New Jersey will become the third state to legalize marijuana. He will hold a news conference at the Statehouse in Trenton on Monday afternoon to introduce his plan for legal marijuana, NJ.com reported.
Scutari, who sponsored the state’s successful medical-marijuana law, had announced in January that he planned to introduce a bill that would aim to make New Jersey the third state behind Washington and Colorado to legalize pot. Colorado reportedly netted $2 million in revenue from legal marijuana in January, the first month the drug’s sales were permitted at retail stores there.
