Cannabis, Wellness, And The Professional Athlete Workshop Presented At CWCBExpo Boston

NEW JERSEY: The newly formed 501c3 non-profit Athletes For Care and C3 Global Biosciences are hosting an educational workshop focused on the active lifestyle cannabis user at the Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition (CWCBExpo) in Boston on October 4th at the John B. Hynes Convention Center.  CWCBExpo Boston, Oct. 4-6, is the leading business trade show and conference for the medical marijuana, legalized recreational marijuana and industrial hemp industries.

The workshop, Cannabis, Wellness and the Professional Athlete, will expand upon the notion of cannabis as a medicine or therapy to explore cannabis as a general health and wellness supplement for the active lifestyle.  Representing Athletes For Care at the event will be Cliff Robinson of the NBA, UFC-legend Frank Shamrock, NHL tough guys Darren McCarty and Riley Cote, and former NFL players Eben Britton and Nate Jackson.

This all-day workshop will offer attendees the exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal with several of the pro athletes who are leading the cannabis-in-sports movement.  This jam-packed day will include two educational panels featuring the representatives from Athletes For Care along with industry experts and medical professionals.

The first panel discussion will examine “Performance Training Concepts Incorporating Cannabis,” with the second panel focusing on “Leveraging the Power of Influencer Marketing.”  The day’s activities will also include a Q&A with the audience following each panel discussion, as well as revealing “One-on-One” conversations with former pro athletes discussing the role of cannabis in their sport, their career, and their life.

“We are excited to be part of CWCBExpo Boston and to share with attendees the therapeutic benefits of the cannabis plants.  This workshop will take a deep dive into how all active lifestyles and performance athletes can benefit from cannabis as well as create a successful business that caters to this growing demographic,” said Ryan Kingsbury from Athletes for Care.

CWCBExpo Boston will also present its largest conference program to date (Oct. 5-6) made up of curated panel presentations, lectures, and interactive discussions, covering the main sectors of the cannabis industry: Science & Research, Cultivation, Processing, Sales, Taxes & Finances, Investments, Advocacy, and Law & Regulations. NEW JERSEY: The Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition (CWCBExpo) is pleased to announce that Melissa Etheridge, Grammy and Academy Award Winning singer-songwriter, will return to the event as Moderator for its thought-leadership panel, “CTE, Concussion and CBD.”  Taking place on Thursday, Sept. 8th, former pro athletes, leading medical researchers and advocates for alternative medicines, will discuss how the use of cannabinoids may help treat and prevent the onset of symptoms associated with CTE and traumatic brain injury. “As someone who is passionate about educating people about the real medicinal value of the cannabis plant, I am excited to return to CWCBExpo and moderate this important panel. To have a candid conversation with former NFL and NHL players and to share our experiences and to discuss the research is another positive step forward in removing the negative stigma of cannabis,” said Melissa Etheridge.

Joining Etheridge on the “CTE, Concussion and CBD” panel are Nate Jackson, former Denver Bronco and writer; Jake Plummer, Medical Marijuana Advocate and former pro-bowl quarterback; Lorenzo Neal, Co-Host, Morning with Chad, Joe & Lo, 95.7 The Game and former all star fullback; Heather Jackson, Realm of Caring; Marcel Bonn-Miller, PhD, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania; and Riley Cote, Hemp Heals Foundation and former NHL player.  This high-profile panel takes place Thursday, September 8th at 2:30 pm PST.

Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Melissa Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.  She began her distinguished musical career in 1988 when she stormed onto the American rock scene with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album.  Her popularity continued to rise with hits such as “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy,” for which she won a Grammy in 1992.   Her fourth album, Yes I Am in 1993, featured the massive hits “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” that brought Etheridge her second Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance.  In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, that included hit single, “I Want to Come Over,” and earned her the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996.

A cancer survivor, Etheridge has publicly spoken about the medicinal value of cannabis in her recovery and has launched her own line of canna-products including a marijuana-infused wine.

The “CTE, Concussion and CBD,” presented by CW Hemp, is part of a powerful line-up of top speakers and relevant content that encompasses the entire spectrum of the cannabis industry and includes celebrities, sports icons, and experts discussing the  the value of medical marijuana and business opportunities in the legalized industries.
