WASHINGTON: Seattle-based GrasshopperHub, a cannatech startup founded by former Microsoft executive and serial entrepreneur Heidi Arsenault, debuted its online cannabis B2B e-commerce platform, Grasshopperhub.com, at the Interchange Fall 2016 trade fair this week.
The cloud-based GrasshopperHub provides a storefront for multiple manufacturers to sell, source and manage cannabis-related goods, while providing a feature rich environment that streamlines the vendor management process for retailers.
The GrasshopperHub booth, staffed by founder Arsenault and COO James Tuff, was abuzz with activity, and to date more than 130 Washington licensed cannabis retailers and 25 producer/processors have already signed up for the service, including Buddy’s, Have-A-Heart, Herban Legends, Hemp Zen and Washington Bud Company.
“The cannabis selling process is heavily regulated and difficult to navigate,” said Arsenault. “For producers, we make the vendor management process easier and more profitable.”
Retailers have a lot to handle: sampling, vetting and managing hundreds of vendors and products. “GrasshopperHub streamlines the buying process, and delivers actionable insights into your business financials, operations and inventory,” Arsenault said.
Initially servicing Washington’s $1.2 Billion legal cannabis marketplace, the company has already established a presence in Alaska, Oregon, Hawaii and California and plans to expand further along with explosive market.
“With the recent election resulting in 20% of the nation now enjoying adult-use cannabis, the need for canna-technology has never been greater,” Arsenault said. “The entire I-5 corridor is now all legal. Our customers are already expanding their cannabis brands into these newly-legal states, and GrasshopperHub will be using our platform along with them.”
