Medical Marijuana Firm Breaks Ground Before Getting License

NEW YORK:  In what its president has called an educated leap of faith, a medical marijuana firm has broken ground in the Hudson Valley before winning state approval.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports ( ) officials from Valley Agriceuticals broke ground on a growing and processing plant in Wallkill Thursday.

Its president, Erik Holling, says that while the company is competing with about 40 others for five state licenses, it needs to get the project moving. He says they want to get product on the shelves by January 2016.
