WASHINGTON:  Gig Harbor native Crystal Newton recently launched a kickstarter campaign to unite the marijuana industry in the state of Washington.

Called Cannabis Connection, the campaign aims to create a web-based platform to foster communication and growth for the state’s nascent recreational marijuana industry.

“What I’m trying to do is give everyone in the industry a ‘spot’ where they can communicate, understand each other better, share products and strengthen,” Newton said. “It is very similar to Facebook.”

Newton, a business consultant in Seattle for 10 years and a medical marijuana grower for cancer patients, realized she could combine her two interests into one, which led to the creation of Cannabis Connection.
