Marijuana Welfare Measure Passes 1st Vote

The bill aims to alleviate concerns that public benefits can be used to buy pot.

A similar measure failed last year amid complaints that because dispensaries are concentrated in poorer neighborhoods, dispensary ATMs may be the closest source of cash.

The bill faces a more formal vote before going to the House.
