Farechild Events to Debut Their “Golden Ticket” at MJBizCon Party

November 10, 2022 by MJ News Network Leave a Comment

NEVADA: At the third edition of their annual party at MJBizCon in Las Vegas on November 17, Farechild Events (@thefarechild) will debut a new and exclusive component to their highly-anticipated private events: NFTs. With this coveted release, technology will meet nature in the form of a “Golden Ticket” – a metaphorical master key, housed in a physical wooden box that grants holders and a guest free lifetime access to all of Farechild’s globally produced events. Created in partnership with cannabis-native 3is4™ (@3is4.io) and Potcoin (@Potcoin), the first-of-its-kind event access pass NFT for the cannabis industry will drop in waves, with the first collection consisting of just 100 digital access passes going to the industry’s most influential personalities. Leading into each subsequent Farechild Event production, the NFTs will unlock access to new and different but equally-VIP guest lists as the community grows.

Founded by David Tran and James Zachodni, Farechild events offers production and event consulting to industries throughout the world, allowing people to bring their concepts to reality but in a greater sense they create a community in the business and culture of cannabis. For this year’s MJBizCon, their team has collaborated with presenting sponsor and NYC cannabis lifestyle brand Happy Munkey (@happymunkey_), known for their headline making Van Gogh Cannabis Exhibit in New York, will be creating a whimsical, hazy dreamscape that is conducive to a happy collision between the forward-thinking innovation of technology and the timeless, inexplicable wonders of nature. The mythical Shangri-La-themed invite-only event will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. PST at The Industrial – a 10,000 square-foot indoor space and 1.5 acre adjacent open-air space in the epicenter of the famous Las Vegas Strip (2330 South Industrial Road in Las Vegas, Nevada).

The event seeks to reinforce the idea of nature in a world that is increasingly reliant on technology. This is especially important in the weed realm, where operators are keen to keep up with evolving technological times, but remain endlessly loyal to the roots of the plant and the power that accompanies natural simplicity. Event attendees will be guided through a series of interactive “phases,” each designed to showcase the importance of technological advancement while also instilling a deep gratitude for the world around us, and the plant so many of us love to enjoy.

To kick off the experience, exclusive guests will first be invited into “The Village” – a group of sponsors set up as merchants for casual perusal. As they make their way through the Himalayan wonderland, guests will enjoy interactive activities that inspire and enlighten consciousness before the next phase of the journey: “The Trees of Life.” Here, guests will be able to mingle under a mesmerizing canopy, accompanied by high-energy DJ performances that will escort them to the final locale: “Shangri-La.” This final indoor space will feature a full bar, an assortment of plant-based foods, and a tranquil hiding place where guests can tuck away and fully embrace the magic of the evening.

The Cannabis Industry Stars Align At Zodiac VIP Party In Las Vegas

September 22, 2021 by MJ News Network 1 Comment

FARECHILD EVENTS ARE BACK IN THE CENTER OF THE CANNABIS CONSTELLATION WITH THEIR NEW ZODIAC PARTY AT MJBIZ VEGAS 2021

It’s been two years since the cannabis industry made its annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas for what has become known as “Cannabis Week,” and all indications are that despite renewed COVID-19 concerns the legal cannabis industry is ready return to the Mojave en masse.

With new safety protocols in place from organizers at MJBizCon 2021, including mandatory masks for all convention attendees and larger booths and more generous spacing for exhibitors, and a number of targeted industry events, most notably MJ Unpacked at the Mandalay the third week in October will see Las Vegas as the center of the cannabis universe.

There are ten thousand stories at the Las Vegas Convention Center, no two alike: eager startups looking for money, savvy investors looking for opportunity, newbies looking to pick brains, and biz dev folks looking for deals. One thing they all share is a desire to see and be seen. Networking is the name of the game during Cannabis Week, and everyone knows that the real action takes place outside the gated walls of MJBizCon.

“It’s all about the community,” Farechild Events co-founder Dave Tran explained in a recent interview on Marijuana Channel One. “You have only a certain amount of time when you’re down there and that includes [time for] meetings, it includes taking a walk on the [convention] floor, but ultimately at the end of the day it’s about doing business. Giving people the opportunity to attend one of these networking events — to be able to break bread [with potential partners], this is really where you find out if you are compatible with. each other.”

MJBizCon is the tent pole event of the year for the cannabis industry explained James Zachodni, Tran’s longtime partner and co-founder in Farechild Events, the event production company known for throwing cannabis’ hottest best parties and networking forums.  “We always want to put our best foot forward because it’s such a milestone for everyone to be in the same place at the same time.”

The duo responsible for the DOPE Industry Awards, DOPE Cup and their many notorious ‘Golden Ticket’ parties was challenged to top their spectacular event two years ago at MJBizCon.  “After the last event we did in 2019 at this great venue called The Industrial we asked ourselves ‘how do we top that next time? I had this idea of a zodiac theme and when I brought it to Dave, he was just like ‘oh yeah that’s it man.’”

The Zodiac VIP Party is an invite-only fully immersive experience designed for the elite of cannabis: top executives, business leaders, personalities, social influencers, investors and celebrities. The Zodiac Party theme includes plays on numerology and astrology and will include an “easter egg” treasure hunt.

“As an event producer it’s fun because [we get to create] everything from the marketing to the invitations… all the stuff you can do with horoscopes to the actual production of the event; how we can take those moments and turn them into an activation or a real life experience for people,” Zachodni said.

Why horoscope? What’s the connection between cannabis and astrology?  “We wanted to bring that was on trend,” Zachodni said. “Right now [interest in] spirituality is at all-time high — in pop culture and also something that makes sense with cannabis. There’s a lot of spirituality within cannabis.

Held once again at The Industrial, 330 South Industrial Road in Las Vegas, with Sensi taking the lead sponsorship honors. Participating sponsors include CannaTrac Technology, Inc,  SafeReach, Infusent, My Cannabis Accountant, New Leaf Enterprises, Blunt Bowls and Cultiva Law

For the first time, this year’s event will include live music performances. Featured artists include DJ Kelly J (@djkellyj) from 91.5 KUNV Las Vegas, synth/pop duo New Constellations (@newconstellationmusic) and Lil Debbie (@debbiecakes420).

What’s your sign?  To make it easy for stargazers to connect with compatible astrological signs, guests will receive lapel pins based on their zodiac sun sign. The Zodiac party will be both indoor and outdoor with the primary activities taking place in a giant outdoor circular calendar where each zodiac sign will be represented by a different event sponsor.

Cannabis Industry Mover And Shaker Party? MJBA Ambassador At Large Is There

October 18, 2018 by MJ News Network Leave a Comment

By Jake Dimmock,MJBA Ambassador-At-Large

WASHINGTON: Last night, I had the pleasure of attending a special celebratory gathering of the movers and shakers of Washington’s Legal Cannabis Industry. Held at the Hard Rock Cafe,
and hosted by Jared Mirsky, CEO and founder of cannabis digital agency Wick & Mortar, the “Movers and Shakers” celebration marked Wick & Mortar’s (originally Online Marijuana Design) fifth anniversary.  Jake the Professor made the scene in my capacity as Ambassador-At-Large for the Marijuana Business Association (MJBA).  Great work if you can get it.

Jake and HarleyThe party was a veritable Who’s Who of Industry VIPs, including the Pacific Northwest’s very own David Tran and his crew at Dope Magazine , who were celebrating their acquisition by High Times Magazine.  Other notables included JJ Walker, who runs and operates the new Cannabition Museum in Las Vegas —  home of the 24′  world’s largest functioning bong, Bongzilla, created by Jerome Baker Designs. If you are into weed go see the Cannabition Museum next time you visit Las Vegas.

Wick & MortarThe very well known grower and author of Marijuana Growers Guide and co-founder of High Times Magazine, Ed Rosenthal was there!  Many of the old school cannabis growers used Ed’s grow guide to make decision about what new grow equipment we needed. We were assured by Ed, the next thing we needed to do for bigger buds was buy more grow equipment!

Also in attendance was the lovely Cheryl Shuman, aka the Martha Stuart of pot. Cheryl is an original cannabis branding pioneer who has inspired many of today’s cannabis influencers, and women of weed.

Tony Greenhand renowned professional joint roller (yeah, it’s a thing) dazzled the party with a turtle shaped masterfully-rolled jay.  Everything was going great until the fire alarm went off. Next thing you know, the Seattle Fire Department arrives just in time to make sure all the movers and shakers were safe.  Strange thing, nobody knows why the fire alarm malfunctioned. Weird right? Everything turned out fine of course, and like the old saying goes, “It ain’t a good party until the authorities arrive.”

The Wink In Weed: Lessons Learned At Seattle Hempfest

August 23, 2018 by drheins 2 Comments

By David Rheins

I’m just back from another epic Seattle Hempfest.  The Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful regions on the planet, and its volcanic mountains, vibrant cities and evergreen forests never cease to inspire wonder.  I cherish my PNW canna-family, and am humbled at how rich and meaningful have been our shared experiences, as we workers in weed have toiled to reform marijuana law, and establish a legal cannabis industry.

It is a treat to spend time with legends: Farmer Tom Lauerman, Jake The Professor, Grandma Cat Jeter, Kevin and Crystal Oliver, AC Braddock and Fritz Chess, David Tran, Vivian McPeak, Joy Beckerman, Nurse Heather Manus, Ah Warner and so many others.  This year we were honored to have USVI Senator Positive Nelson, who was traveling with a video crew from 420MEDIA,  visit with us.  I first met Terence, who is universally known as ‘Positive’, at a High Tea at Seattle’s Green Labs Farms a few years back, when as moderator I had the privilege of introducing the pro-pot and “positive living” politician to the cannabis community.  Look for great things from the Senator and USVI (pot tourism anyone?) soon.

Seattle Hempfest for me has always seemed like the ‘State Fair of Weed.’  Tens of thousands of people — of every age, shape and size — streaming through a labyrinth of vendor booths, food trucks and tents, smoking weed, hanging out and listening to advocates preach to the choir, and bands sing about “Mary Jane.”  This year was no different, a little smaller — a couple fewer stages due to lack of sponsorship support — and smokier, as a result of raging fires in Canada and Eastern Washington.

At the Curved Papers/MJBA booth, and at a series of industry parties, I had the opportunity to reconnect to my industry friends and colleagues. What I heard was a consistent narrative: these are make or break times for Washington licensees.  Competition is fierce and getting fiercer.  Wholesale prices are brutally low for producers, and while sales remain strong at retail and gross revenues are high, profits are elusive and unfair taxes still eat up most of the profits.  For licensees the choice is straightforward: differentiate or die.

Much of our conversation revolved around the mainstreaming of cannabis — and the impact that the $4B USD investment that Constellation Brands just made with Canopy Growth would have on the mom & pops. The game has gone from grassroots to international overnight, and for the smaller players there is tremendous pressure to scale.  Undercapitalized businesses are putting their licenses up for sale, or looking for partnerships and mergers.

DOPE celebrated its 7th Anniversary with a “Golden Ticket” Party

Cannafest Destiny.  The West Coast is the fertile birthplace of the legal cannabis industry.  While NORML, established in 1970, can rightfully claim authorship of the political legalization and reform movement, the business — and more importantly the community — started in California, Oregon, Washington (and British Columbia).   The legitimate markets that we have created out West have blazed bright, sparks have now inspired entrepreneurs, activists, investors and politicians across the country — from Maine to Maryland, Michigan to Oklahoma. Our duty and opportunity is now to export the incredible experience and knowledge to these new emerging markets.

In a weird wrinkle of federal prohibition, Legal Cannabis has become international, before it has become a national industry!  Our neighbors to the north are rapidly ramping up their legal cannabis industry, and positioning themselves globally with distribution deals in emerging European, Caribbean and South American markets. Public Canadian companies are gobbling up American brands, and deals are now measured in the billions.

No where can we witness the mainstreaming of marijuana better than Las Vegas.  Neon billboards on strip.  24/7 retailers with drive thru.  Las Vegas, once upon a time among the harshest places in America to be caught with a seed or a stem (an infraction that could land you 20 years in the hoosegow) now actively planning the opening of consumption lounges and canna-friendly hotels.  No peace, love and tie dye hippie culture here.  Just the business of entertainment.  It is fitting then that the next stop for the Cannafest Destiny tour will be Las Vegas Hempfest on November 3&4th — Viva Las Hempfest! Hope to see you there!
