COLORADO: Nebraska and Oklahoma have sued Colorado over marijuana, saying their neighbor is not doing enough to contain the evil weed within its borders.
In the lawsuit, filed with the United States Supreme Court, the states say that so much legal Colorado cannabis is being carried illegally into their territory that it amounts to a “direct assault on the health and welfare” of their citizens.
My first thought was to agree with the commenter on The Denver Post’s Facebook page who said the lawsuit was like the neighbors “calling the cops about the house party next door.”
But no, ahem, we have to be serious here. As the attorneys general of Nebraska and Oklahoma explain, “Colorado’s actions amount to what would be casus belli if the states were fully sovereign nations.”
