Pennsylvanians Split On Legalizing Marijuana, Mercyhurst Poll Shows

PENNSYLVANIA:  Pennsylvanians are divided on the question of legalizing marijuana for all adults, a Mercyhurst Center for Applied Politics poll released today shows.

The poll shows 48 percent in favor and 42 percent opposed.

But most of those polled — 85 percent — believe that patients should be allowed to use marijuana when prescribed by a doctor.

And a solid majority, 59 percent, support decriminalizing possession of marijuana. In some states where possession of the drug has been decriminalized, people are given a citation rather than being charged and jailed, MCAP said.
