CALIFORNIA: A marijuana-themed restaurant’s effort to expand to another location has been nipped in the bud.
Cheba Hut Toasted Subs is now searching for a new location after being rejected by a property company solely because of the theme.
“We are like anyone else, expressing the First Amendment – that’s all it is,” said franchise owner Jordan Robinson.
Robinson and co-owner Ryan Snyder said they were initially approved to buy the store space, but when the sellers found out Cheba Hut was moving in they pulled the plug.
Everything from items on the menu to the decor is built around marijuana, but the owners said the food is not made with the drug.
