Marijuana Should Be Sold Like Alcohol: CAMH

CANADA:  Marijuana should be legal and sold in the same manner as alcohol, Canada’s largest addiction and mental health facility says.

“Canada’s current system of cannabis control is failing to prevent or reduce the harms associated with cannabis use,” said Dr. Jurgen Rehm, a research director at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Thursday.

“Based on a thorough review of the evidence, we believe that legalization combined with strict regulation of cannabis is the most effective means of reducing the harms associated with its use.”

CAMH says 40% of Canadians have smoked pot in their lifetime, which is on the high end of cannabis use in the world.
