Sunday morning on Bay News 9’s Political Connections former Florida Governor Charlie Crist talked about his support in the use of medical marijuana.
It’s something Bob and Cathy Jordan were shocked to see when they turned on the TV.
“I never thought I would hear him say that,” said Bob Jordan, medical marijuana supporter.
For the Jordans, it’s another supporter in their camp to legalize marijuana, a drug Cathy said has kept her alive.
She has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS. It’s a debilitating disease that takes away all bodily functions. She’s been turning to marijuana for years as her medicine.
“It relaxes my muscles and the sativa works on my brain,” said Cathy Jordan.
The couple’s made it their mission to make it legal for Cathy to keep doing that.
And this week they’re getting some help not only from Charlie Crist but from the United for Care campaign. The group plans to present a petition to the Florida Secretary of State seeking to change the state constitution.
They’ve gotten thousands of signatures hoping to get the issue on the ballot next year. The group is being headed by Orlando attorney John Morgan, who is Charlie Crist’s boss.
