NJ Transit Employee Challenging Agency Over Medical Marijuana Policy

NEW JERSEY: When New Jersey legalized medical marijuana, it created several potential complications, including one that’s now emerged in a case involving NJ Transit.

According to a report by the Bergen Record, Charlie Davis, an NJ Transit employee of five years,  applied for a new job with the railroad division, disclosing that he is a registered medical marijuana user. When Davis took a drug test as part of the application process, the test showed traces of marijuana in his system, and so, following policy, the Record said, the agency sent Davis to a drug rehabilitation program for eight weeks.

Now, Davis is suing NJ Transit because its policy does not recognize marijuana as an accepted prescription drug, the report said.
