Oregon Bans Medical Pot For Daycare Providers

OREGON:  The owners of four Oregon home-based day care centers will have to give up their medical marijuana cards or lose their licenses to care for children.

A state board voted unanimously Wednesday to revoke permission given to a handful of day care owners, who were allowed to use the drug under certain restrictions.

Advocates of the medicinal pot program objected to Wednesday’s move, saying child care providers aren’t prohibited from using medications, including narcotics.

The rule takes effect immediately and lasts six months. The Early Learning Council will consider a permanent rule in January, after voters decide whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
