Medical marijuana, global warming and animal neglect: Oregon Legislature today

OREGON: Could this be the penultimate day of the 2013 Oregon Legislature? The antepenultimate?

In any case, lawmakers and their loyal aides are thisclose to freedom from the Capitol for the summer.

The House meets at 3 p.m. and is scheduled to take up a priority bill of the senate President, Peter Courtney, D-Salem. Senate Bill 6 increases punishment for extreme cases of animal neglect and abuse, and seeks to decrease the number of fake rescue groups with registration, licensing, and facility inspection.

The House is also expected to give final approval to the creation of a medical marijuana registry run by the state.
