At Pa. capitol, longshot marijuana legalization bill gets NAACP support

PENNSYLVANIA: The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People threw its support behind the measure, saying the war on drugs in America unfairly targets minorities and that there is a “staggeringly disproportionate” arrest rate compared with white drug users.
“The war on drugs is a catastrophic failure,” said David Scott, chair of the Legal Redress Committee for the Cheltenham Area Branch of the NAACP and a former deputy chief of police.
