COLORADO: Father’s Day is a chance to celebrate Dad in all his glory. Pop wakes up with expectations of leisure, recreation and presents. And while the #1 Dad will love whatever gift he receives from his mini-me, a gift from his spouse is a welcomed signal of appreciation. This year I’m considering something a little different for my husband, something sure to put a grin on his face.
1. Pair the Colorado outdoors with music — a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Gift tickets for the two of you, or for he and a friend, to one of the summer concerts at Red Rocks. The rest of this month at the Morrison venue is eclectic, if nothing else. Depending on your tastes you could see James Taylor (June 17-18); Nas–Flying Lotus–ScHoolboy Q triple bill (June 19) or Skrillex (June 20-21) — sorry, the June 27-29 Widespread Panic run has long been sold out. Check out the full summer concert schedule here. Don’t forget the movie nights this summer — two guy-centric flicks that stand out are “This is Spinal Tap” (June 24) and “The Big Lebowski” (Sept. 2). The ambiance and the open air are sure to help him relax and enjoy.
2. Ditch the traditional tie and get him some marijuana-themed apparel.
A tie is a long, thin piece of material, wrapped around the neck and tightened so that it is snug around the wearer’s neck. That, my friends, sounds like a noose.
