CALIFORNIA: According to organizers, the Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition, attracted more than 4,000 attendees to the September 7-9, event at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Deemed the most professionally run event in the industry, CWCBExpo delivered on-point education, business connections, and helped build mainstream awareness for this burgeoning market.
The CWCBExpo LA featured a Keynote Address by media personality and medical marijuana advocate Montel Williams entitled, “We Can’t Forget ‘Medical’ Cannabis as Legalization Becomes a Reality.” During his address he announced the launch of his new company, LenitivLabs.

It’s critically important that those of us on the activism and industry sides of the cannabis movement come together frequently and ask ourselves tough questions about where we’ve been and where we’re going. We have to always remember that patients like me depend on each of us to be at our best, and in coming together, we have a chance to learn from each other and move forward as one. Given that, CWCBExpo was the perfect place to announce my new venture, LenitivLabs, which will make sure patients are not forgotten as the tide of legalization continues to rise,” said Montel Williams.
Ted Chung, serial entrepreneur, partner with and business manager of Snoop Dogg, also delivered a Keynote Address at CWCBExpo LA. In an engaging speech, Chung talked about the effects of commercialization on the cannabis industry with his talk entitled: “The Revolution Will Be Televised: MERRY JANE and The Art of Cannabis.”
Other top panels included “CTE, Concussion and CBD,” moderated by Academy award-winning singer and songwriter, Melissa Etheridge and featuring former pro-athletes Jake Plummer, Lorenzo Neal, Nate Jackson, and Riley Cote. “Failure is Not Option,” about current policy and impending legislation, brought together speakers from the ACLU, DPA, NORML, Oaksterdam University, and the California Cannabis Industry Association.
The CWCBExpo conference program provided important information on this multi-faceted industry and the many stages involved in building a successful cannabis business as well as the medical benefits of the cannabis plant. Popular sessions included “The Road to State Licensing;” “Edibles & Infusions;” “How to Build a World Class Cannabis Brand;” “Racial and Gender Diversity in the LA Cannabis Industry,” and “Can CBD Relieve PSTD;” to name a few.
