GEORGIA: A rally to show public support for marijuana law reform will be hosted by the Georgia Campaign for Access, Reform and Education 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 at Athens City Hall on College Avenue.
Georgia CARE Director James Bell more than 30,000 marijuana-related arrests occur in Georgia each year, which diverts resources away from more serious criminal issues. An ounce of marijuana carries up to 10 years in state prison.
During the rally, Bell hopes to bring attention to the harm marijuana prohibition is causing in the state. Guest speakers from various organizations also will participate.
