Marijuana: Coming To A St. Helens Storefront Near You?

OREGON:  It’s far from official yet, but medical and retail marijuana outlets could begin appearing in St. Helens’ commercial areas within months.

The St. Helens City Council held a public hearing Wednesday evening, May 20, on proposed amendments to the city’s community development code dealing with the placement of potential marijuana stores and medical dispensaries.

The council heard from Carl Coffman, owner of the Muckle Building at the corner of Cowlitz and Strand streets in the Riverfront District, and Lauren Terry, a Portland medical marijuana dispensary manager. Coffman and Terry are interested in siting a dispensary on the ground floor of the Muckle Building, which is currently vacant.
