Lincolnwood Marijuana Rules Make Clinic Unlikely

ILLINOIS:  The chances of a medical marijuana clinic setting up shop in Lincolnwood in the near future are slim at best.

Village trustees Tuesday accepted a recommendation by the Plan Commission to enact tighter local restrictions to allow a “medical cannabis dispensary” as a special use in the village’s M-B Retail Overlay District — and added in additional restrictions on hours of operation and signage.

The M-B Retail Overlay District covers a number of industrial-use properties in the northeast part of community along Capital Drive and the west side of Lawndale Avenue near Lincolnwood Town Center.

The state law enacted in January allows municipalities to enact “reasonable regulations” on cannabis dispensaries and cultivation centers but prohibits local lawmakers from banning the facilities outright.
