WASHINGTON: Two doors down from Jimmy John’s sandwich shop on 1st Avenue South in Seattle, Stephanie Viskovich is opening up a marijuana dispensary, Delta 9.
It’s a lot of work converting this grungy old night club into a haven for medical marijuana patients. Within the next two weeks, she will offer MMJ patients organic and tested cannabis products, assuming all goes well with the renovation.
What’s the hardest thing about opening up a new canna-business? “Well at the moment, it’s scraping stickers off the urinals. But seriously, it’s about educating recreational users of the benefits of medical marijuana,” Ms. Viskovich, who is also the Director for the Cannabis Action Coalition, a patient advocacy group; as well as a member of NORML Women’s Alliance, told MJNN.
Delta 9 is in the heart of SoDo, which includes Seattle’s downtown stadium district of Safeco Field, where the Seattle Mariners play baseball, and CenturyLink Field, where the Seattle Seahawks play NFL football , and the Seattle Sounders FC play soccer.
There is Krispy Kreme donuts across the street, a Starbucks store on the other side (of everywhere), and local-band-made-good Death Cab for Cutie still practices in the basement of this three story building.
This savvy business woman has learned one thing for sure – in retail it’s all about location, location, location.
