MONTANA: The Bozeman City Commission is taking a look at the city’s regulations regarding medical marijuana storefronts.
But, Montana’s relationship with medical marijuana is a bit murky – if you ask about the state’s medical marijuana laws it’s not always easy to get a clear answer.
Here’s a look at the history and current state of things:
Voters approved the Medical Marijuana Act in 2004. The initiative was vaguely written and sought to allow patients the limited use of medical marijuana.
Fast forward to 2011, when the state legislature proposed House Bill 161 to effectively kill the act. The bill passed both houses, but former Governor Brian Schweitzer vetoed it.
