Banks Willing To Serve Pot Industry, But Not Able

Until the agency changes its outlook or Congress changes the law -- and efforts are under way to do both -- those getting into the pot business can't open a bank account, secure a line of credit or obtain a loan from a federally insured financial institution in their neighborhood.

WASHINGTON: Community banks and credit unions are ready and willing to provide financial services to entrepreneurs in the state’s new legal pot industry. But they aren’t able to, at least not yet.

Colorado's Mountain Resorts Gear Up For Recreational Marijuana

Though early projections showed Colorado pulling in nearly $35 million from recreational marijuana taxes for the first six months of 2014, the state has only collected $14.7 million through May.

COLORADO: Communities across Colorado are taking different tactics to the sale of recreational marijuana, which will officially begin in January. In Colorado’s high country, most resort towns support pot legalization and they don’t see it hurting the state’s multibillion dollar tourism business.
